SASKATOON – NDP Leader Carla Beck and her party released their fully costed election campaign platform on Friday in Saskatoon. Like their previous pledges, the NDP is promising to get Saskatchewan out of last in healthcare and education while making living more affordable, creating safer communities, and building on the provincial economy.

Beck’s platform focuses on helping hospitals with staffing, cutting wait time in emergency rooms and providing more family doctors across the province.

“In Saskatchewan, we take care of each other, and we aren’t afraid to do the hard work to get big things done,” Beck said. She added, “After all, we are the province that brought public health care to the rest of Canada.

Beck said the NDP can get Saskatchewan out of last place in multiple sectors, reiterating her message of “it’s time for change.”

Their platform also lays out the PST cut on groceries and children’s clothing before Christmas time.

Additionally, the NDP would temporarily cut the gas tax on Day 1 if elected.

Beck also blasted Scott Moe and the Sask Party for the lack of affordability in the province. “Scott Moe did nothing to help families who have been struggling to make ends meet for years — in fact, he piled on more taxes and added costs onto household bills.”

Beck also said an elected NDP government would allow Saskatchewan residents to save money for their future.

The NDP is also investing in communities by funding schools, hiring 200 frontline officers, making housing more affordable and putting money into social support.

Beck said this investment would allow children “to reach their full potential,” ensuring safer communities and quality education for Saskatchewan’s future.

Under the NDP’s Saskatchewan economic plan, the party would prioritize local businesses and workers by freezing the small business tax and revitalizing downtown Main Streets.

Beck ended the media conference by stating the NDP will focus on the needs of the Saskatchewan people and work together to create change.
