Roughriders’ DL Bryan Cox Jr.’s historic gesture leads to CFL fine

Saskatchewan Roughriders’ defensive end Bryan Cox Jr. is heading into the offseason lighter in the pocketbook.

The Canadian Football League has fined the 30-year-old for violating its code of conduct by making an inappropriate gesture to fans. The gesture in question was a double-middle-finger salute to Blue Bomber fans.

Ironically, Bryan Cox Sr. was fined by the NFL 31 years ago for making the same gesture to Buffalo Bills fans while he was with the Miami Dolphins.

Cox Jr. is poised to become a CFL free agent after dressing 25 games for the Riders over the last two seasons. He recorded 35 tackles, eight sacks and three forced fumbles in those games.

Prior to joining Saskatchewan, Cox Jr. played in the NFL with Carolina, Cleveland, Buffalo, and Indianapolis after completing his collegiate career at the University of Florida.
