We knew it would come eventually. Parts of southeast and east central Saskatchewan may feel the wrath of old man winter today (Nov 18th) and tomorrow. Environment Canada has issued a winter storm watch for the Yorkton, Melville, Churchbridge, Humboldt, Raymore, Hudson Bay, Carnduff, Redvers, Carlyle, Moosomin, Kipling, Wolseley, Raymore, Kelliher, Ituna, and Wynyard areas.
According to the weather office, a strong low pressure system will move from the south into southeast Saskatchewan and western Manitoba Monday evening and continuing through to Wednesday. There are estimates of 15 to 30 cm of snow with this system and strong wind gusts of up to 80km/h, which means visibility may be poor in some areas. Precipitation will start out as rain and/or freezing rain before transitioning to snow.
A winter storm warning has been issued for the Melfort, Tisdale, and Nipawin areas. Wet and freezing snow is expected to start later this afternoon in these areas.
