Tourism Saskatchewan has announced the winners of this year’s Explore Sask photo contest, which is being a considered a huge success. According to Tourism Saskatchewan, nearly 2,400 entries were made between June and the closing date of September 15th.
Winning submissions and honourable mentions were determined by a panel of judges who based their decisions on a number of criteria and categories. This year’s photo categories included people and places, wildlife, prairie, winter, video, and woods and water.
The grand prize winner was Josiah Olson of Kinistino, SK who captured the image of a dragonfly on a wheat stem near the village of Weldon, SK.

People and Places winner: Brenda Makin of Maidstone
Prairie: Joel Waghela of Regina. He managed to capture a stunning image of the Milky Way over an abandoned building near Parry, SK.

Winter: Jeff Wizniak of Saskatoon who captured the image of a snowy trail through the woods
Woods and Water: Herry Himanshu of Regina who snapped a picture of the awesome beauty of Christopher Lake.
Video: Milena Esser of Hamilton, ON, who documented her weekend canoeing and fishing trip on Whiteswan Lake.
