Born on this day in 1909 was inventor and founder of the Fender Musical Instruments Corporation Leo Fender. The Fender Telecaster became important in country music in ‘The Bakersfield Sound’ in the 1960s, and the emerging Outlaw scene. The Bakersfield Sound made the Telecaster cool. Leo Fender died on March 21, 1991 of complications from Parkinson’s disease.
