The annual Yorkton Exhibition Lotto wrapped up Friday evening with all proceeds raised going back into helping the Yorkton Exhibition Association.
“It’s one of our major fundraisers,” stated Yorkton Exhibition Association President Lyle Walsh. “A couple of years ago we put up our new grandstand and that was a big project and a lot of money so we have some payments to make on that and then we had the unfortunate event of a barn fire last year so we have to replace that building and that takes a lot of money.”
The Yorkton Exhibition Association is one of the oldest organizations in the province after it was founded in 1883. The organization hosts several major events each year including the annual summer fair and the huge harvest showdown. This past fall, the Grain Miller’s Harvest Showdown hosted multiple sold out professional bull riding shows along with an impressive grain expo and trade show. The show has expanded so much that some organizers are wondering if they’ll have enough barns and buildings to keep growing, which, in a way, is a good issue to have.

In the summer, the annual spring expo and 4-H steer and heifer show is a big hit amongst farm kids and people of all ages take in the summer fair, chuckwagon, and chariots races in July. In order to keep these types of events going and to keep up with repairs and expansion plans, the organization hosts a lottery every year giving Saskatchewan residents a chance to win $100,000 along with several other cash prizes and a 50/50.
Congratulations to this year’s lotto winners:
