The Swan Valley, Mountain View, and Park West School Divisions have been alerted about a cyber security event.

It has impacted a system called “Power School”, and some of the data has been accessed.

The target of the cyber attack, or intrusion was “Power School” and not the school divisions themselves.

Some schools around North America use this software and storage set up as a student information provider.  “Power School” is reassuring its clients that data was accessed but not downloaded or altered in any way.

Statements from the divisions say investigations are underway, and steps have already been taken to beef up security, noting that protecting the data of students and staff is a top priority.
