TERRIERS 1, MUSTANGS 5

The Melfort Mustangs won the battle of two of the top teams in the SJHL on Saturday night after a 5-1 victory over the Yorkton Terriers.

Logan Keup scored twice for the Mustangs, while Ashton Hutchinson, Reilly Kotai and Brayden Westerlund also scored.

Jeff Hammond scored the lone goal for the Terriers, who’ve now lost three straight.

Kristian Coombs stopped 28 of 29 shots to earn the win for Melfort.

The Terriers return to action on Sunday afternoon hosting the Battlefords North Stars.

NORTH STARS 3, MILLIONAIRES 1

The Battlefords North Stars kicked off their weekend through the Parkland on Saturday with a 3-1 win over the Melville Millionaires.

Sebastian Miles, Anthony Campbell and Colton Getzlaf scored to give the visitors a 3-0 lead before Louis Nadeau got the Mils on the board in his debut.

Justen Maric stopped 31 of 32 shots to earn the win, while Mils netminder Ben Laurette stopped 26 in the loss.

The Mils return to action on Friday night against the Weybrun Red Wings.
