RCMP respond to multiple semis blocking lanes on Highways 1 & 11

The RCMP remind everyone to check conditions – both the forecast and the roads – before venturing out, after responding to several weather-related incidents due to snowy, icy, and windy conditions on Saturday afternoon.

Around 12:47 p.m., semis were blocking eastbound lanes on Highway #1 between Rush Lake and Chaplin. Police also responded to a semi blocking the northbound lane of Highway #11 near Kenaston. Those lanes were eventually cleared.

Then around 4:38 p.m., Mounties responded to another semi blocking eastbound lanes of Highway 1 near the community of Webb but it was cleared after more than an hour.

RCMP say if you end up stranded or stopped on the side of the road, always stay in your vehicle, turn on the vehicle periodically to conserve gasoline and the battery, make sure the tailpipe is clear of snow to prevent carbon monoxide buildup, and occasionally lower the window slightly on the side of your vehicle that is downwind, to let in fresh air.
