A winter storm Friday night has made driving in southern Saskatchewan dangerous and not recommended. The Kenaston Arena was supposed to host a local hockey game tonight but due to the weather the game was postponed, however local citizens have stepped up and opened the arena and community hall for motorists on highway 11.
“The doors will be open late, as late as they need to be. We just live down the street so if anybody needs anything, they can call the number that’s on the white board,” explained volunteer Jamie Young.
Travel is not advised on highway 11 from Saskatoon to Regina tonight and the trans-Canada is closed from Regina to Mortlach. Young estimates there have been 20 people inside the arena and several sitting in vehicles outside the arena all before 10pm.

Earlier this evening, a motorist stated on social media that it took her nearly two hours to drive from Davidson to Craik when it would normally take 20 minutes. The Davidson Fire Department has also responded to a number of single vehicle rollovers on highway 11 today according to their Facebook page.
