SaskAgToday Roundtable: Trade dispute between Canada and U.S., Peavy Mart closing all locations

The SaskAgToday.com Roundtable panel discusses the incoming U.S. tariffs on Canadian goods and how that may impact the ag sector. Canada is prepared with counter-tariffs of its own.

Other ag news from the past week included Peavy Mart closing all of its Canadian locations, Ottawa and Saskatchewan announce funding for 30 livestock & forage research projects, the WSA finalizing its Agricultural Water Stewardship Policy, APAS concerned over the Bunge-Viterra merger, the Durum Summit in Swift Current, and the federal government deferring the capital gains tax changes to January 1, 2026.

Note: As of this recording on Friday morning, the 25 per cent American tariffs on Canadian goods was to take effect on Saturday, February 1, however the Trump Administration announced over the weekend the tariffs would be implemented on Tuesday, February 4.
