A lot of talk about eggs lately thanks to an outbreak of avian flu in the United States which has drastically affected the supply chain in that country. While egg prices have stayed relatively unchanged in Saskatchewan, prices have skyrocketed in the United States due to the slaughter of thousands of chickens in an attempt to curb avian flu.

A not so ‘egg’emplary thief, or group of thieves, hatched a scheme to swipe over 100,000 eggs from the back of a delivery truck in Greencastle, PA recently which has left police in the area scrambled.
According to police, the crime took place Saturday evening near a local grocery store and it’s estimated to be a $40,000 loss. The police still have not cracked the case but are asking the public for any information or footage that may help in the investigation.
The United States Department of Agriculture reports the bird flu virus has entered California and New York and there’s speculation is may be in Massachusetts, among other States. Prices have skyrocketed due to higher demand and it’s believed consumers are buying more eggs than they normally would in anticipation prices will go higher and supply will be less.
Police are hoping to whisk away the case sooner than later but they know gathering the evidence and information won’t be over-easy.
