Some may tell you there are few things in life that taste better than bacon, chocolate, and cheese, especially melted cheese. Fondue has become one of the most popular party dishes now thanks to the various flavours one can have. There’s chocolate fondue, caramel, pizza, tomato, pumpkin and various kinds of cheese fondue than one can make.
A cheese making company in Les Rousses, France has set a world record for the largest cheese fondue. It was made in a giant cauldron with 40 wheels of 9 month, 15 month, and 21 month Comte cheese, which is a creamy pale yellow cheese with a light brown exterior and is often mild in taste.
The fondue also contained 4.4 pounds of garlic, 3.3 pounds of white pepper, 121 pounds of cornstarch, and various kinds of white wines. The fondue makers then mixed everything together with a giant food processor to ensure the end product was nice and creamy.
In all, the entire fondue weighed in at 4,800 pounds (nearly 2,200 kilograms), breaking an unofficial 2009 record set in Switzerland of nearly 3,200 pounds. The fondue was then served at an all you can food festival in Fort des Rousses, Les Rousses, France
Les Rousses is a community of about 3,700 people near the French border with Switzerland.
