There are now fewer winter days ahead of us than there are behind us this year and that means ice fishing shacks will have to be removed from lakes in the coming weeks.

In southern Saskatchewan (areas south of highway 16), ice fishing shacks and all contents must be off the lakes by March 15th, 2025 while those north of highway 16 will have until March 31st to remove shacks.
As temperatures begin to warm up, the ice becomes less predictable meaning removal of shacks on those predetermined dates is very important. Those who do not get them off the ice in time may see their shack and its contents confiscated and/or face significant fines. All litter must be removed from the fishing area and shacks cannot be left on lake shores.
Anglers are also reminded to have their name, address, and phone number clearly identified on the outside of their ice fishing shack.
