Regina residents now have quicker access to public safety information during emergencies with the launch of notifynow, a mass notification system by Regina Fire and Protective Services.
The system will provide real-time alerts on evacuations, extreme weather, major fires, service disruptions, and other emergencies.
Mayor Chad Bachynski says notifynow is an important tool for keeping the community informed and safe.
“Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of residents is our top priority. This system allows people to take action when it matters most,” he said in a news release. Fire Chief Layne Jackson adds that notifynow will ensure timely and accurate communication with residents.
The system will complement SaskAlert, which issues province-wide notifications, by focusing on local emergencies in Regina. Residents must register to receive alerts via text messages, phone calls, or emails.
Signing up is free and allows users to choose how they receive alerts. The City encourages all residents to visit Regina.ca/notifynow to register and stay informed about potential threats to their health, safety, and property.
