Since 1999, Skytrax has been working with travelers to determine the best airports around the world each year. Awards are then given to airports who meet the overall satisfaction of passengers when it comes to things such as check in times, arrivals, departures, transfers, shopping, dining, and overall aesthetics.
The survey looks at 565 airports from all over the world and it was Asia that dominated the top 20 list for the past year. For a 13th time, Sinapore’s Changi Airport ranked number one amongst world travelers. The airport is home to multiple indoor gardens, a ten-story shopping centre, the world’s largest indoor waterfall, and it’s home to many high quality restaurants. Visitors will also find a museum at the airport along with art exhibits, a theatre, and a spa.
The second most loved airport was Hamad International in Qatar due to its luxurious environment and great shopping. The airport was also named the best in the Middle East. Only one airport in North America made the top 20 list and it’s a Canadian airport. Vancouver International placed 13th on the list. Tokyo’s Haneda International Airport ranked the highest amongst passenger numbers, which reached approximately 70 million travelers in the past year.
