The Regina Red Sox baseball team will be holding their annual sport dinner and auction on April 26th at the Turvey Centre. The evening is the biggest fundraiser for the team which allows the organization to cover various expenses throughout the year like equipment needs and travel costs.
Over the past few years of the dinner, organizers have welcomed some of the biggest names in sports to the stage for a question and answer session. These have included Matt Stairs, Ernie Whitt, Jon Ryan, Chris and Ryan Getzlaff, and many others. This year’s guests include Saskatchewan Roughriders Head Coach Corey Mace and Offensive Coordinator Marc Mueller.
“We live in Saskatchewan and, of course, the Riders are always top of mind, so we had an opportunity to ask Corey Mace and Marc Mueller to come to our dinner and we’re really excited,” stated fundraiser organizer Sharon Clarke.
The evening, which also includes live and silent auctions, begins with a hospitality hour at 6pm followed by supper at 7. Among the auction items up for bids a signed and framed 1967 Toronto Maple Leafs hockey team picture.
“We have an Ovechkin jersey, we have a beautiful Regina Red Sox fluorescent light on stage, and a lot of other jerseys. It’s amazing what has come in this year,” Clarke said.
