Over the past few years southern Saskatchewan has proven it can host some of the biggest curling championships in the country. This past winter saw the BKT World Men’s Curling Championship hold a successful event in Moose Jaw while Regina welcomed huge crowds to the Montana’s Brier in 2024 at the Brandt Centre. Not just Regina and Moose Jaw are seeing some of the biggest curlers in the sport, Assiniboia will be hosting the 2025 Canadian Mixed Curling Championships November 2nd to 8th at the Assiniboia Curling Club.
Curling Canada announced Thursday that Regina will be hosting the 2026 U Sports and CCAA Curling Championships at the Callie Curling club. The event will take place February 17th to 21st and will welcome student-athletes from across the country.
The last time the U Sports Curling Championship happened in Regina was in 2014 which saw team Matt Dunstone of the University of Manitoba Bisons win the men’s side while team Jamie Sinclair won the women’s side. The winners of the 2026 event will go on to represent Canada at the FISU Winter World University Games in 2027.
The Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) will also hold their event in Regina at the same time marking the first time the association has played in Saskatchewan since 1985.
According to a press release from Curling Canada, this is the seventh time the U Sports and CCAA curling championships have been held simultaneously in partnership with Curling Canada.
The championships are hosted as part of a partnership between the University of Regina and the Callie Curling Club.
