REGINA – A new survey suggests over 50 per cent of Regina residents support fluoride in water.
Data collected by Spadina Strategies says 52 per cent of people are in favour, while 31 per cent of residents aren’t.
Meanwhile, 17 per cent of residents are unsure of their decision.
The survey was conducted from April 20th to April 21st, with 458 participants.
Fluoride in drinking water has been a hot topic of debate over the past month.
The decision to implement fluoride was first approved back in 2021.
After studies came out suggesting fluoride could impact a child’s learning development, Ward 10 Coun. Clark Bezo presented a motion to reconsider the previous decision.
Residents made their stances clear on the matter after Ward 5 Coun. Sarah Turnbull cancelled a town hall meeting discussing fluoride due to safety concerns.
Dental experts have argued that fluoride prevents tooth decay and strengthens enamel.
Whether or not Regina will implement fluoride in drinking water will likely be decided on May 2nd during a special city council meeting.

Sooooo, help me understand why so many smart Saskatchewan people actually want our city leaders to add a known toxic carcinogen to their water. The form of Fluoride that will be added is NOT natural source Fluoride, rather it is a byproduct of smelting aluminum! If the ones who voted for this horrible decision had given informed consent, the numbers would be much lower! Quit trusting the chemical companies who want to make you placid, ruin your teeth and make you I’ll!!
I am not in favour of adding fluoride in the water. If people want to add fluoride to their water they should add it themselves. Forcing everyone to drink it isn’t fair.
