It’s that time of year when many Regina residents start thinking about what activities they want to do this summer for themselves or for their children. The annual summer leisure guide from the City of Regina is now available online and features hundreds of sport, fitness, cultural, and artistic programs for residents and non-residents of the city.
Summer in Saskatchewan usually means beach trips and swimming pool fun, but it also means swimming lessons and the guide is full of swimming information. It includes a list of swimming lesson guidelines based on age and a lesson schedule for the summer. Adult swimming lessons are also available to the public. According to the guide, the Wascana Pool will be the first of the outdoor pools to open on June 5th followed by Buffalo Meadows Pool, Maple Leaf Pool, Regent, and Massey pool opening on June 12th.
There are new programs added to the guide this year including yoga and the adult sports jam, which is a mix of non-competitive sports and activities designed to keep participants active. Other new programs include the craft circus for ages 3 to 5 and woodworking for ages 12 to 16. Teens will learn about the tools and art of woodworking while learning to build their own wall shelf.
