Someone over the age of 80 in the province’s northwest has become the 487th person in Saskatchewan to die as a result of COVID-19.
That announcement comes as the province tells us about 205 new cases on Wednesday with 244 recoveries putting the active case count at 2,408. Of those 2,408, 794 are from the Regina zone.
Thursday’s new cases are located in the Far North West, 16; Far North East, 1; North West, 11; North Central, 4; North East, 3; Saskatoon, 32; Central West, 2; Central East, 11; Regina, 73; South West, 9; South Central, 13; and South East, 24.
There are 186 people in hospital with 38 in intensive care including 22 in Regina.
The seven-day daily average now stands at 239.
128 new variants of concern have been identified. In all 6,572 VoC’s have been identified by screening with over 3,600 in the Regina region.

On the vaccine front, 6,218 vaccines were administered Wednesday with Saskatoon and Regina seeing the most.
This week’s shipment of Pfizer vaccine (31,590 doses) has arrived and is being distributed while 18,800 doses of Moderna is expected to arrive before Thursday is over.
