Team Saskatchewan wins third straight championship at U18 Football Canada Cup

The third time was definitely the charm for Team Saskatchewan at the Under 18 Football Canada in Kelowna last week, as Saskatchewan won their third straight championship in Kelowna.

Quarterback Carter Casey appeared on the SportsCage with Michael Ball to recap the victory.

The week began with a win over Nova Scotia for Saskatchewan, followed by a victory over Ontario.

Saskatchewan claimed the championship on Sunday after defeating Alberta 13-1.

Casey noted the game was delayed around 30 minutes late in the second quarter. He added Saskatchewan with a very strong defensive from his team.

The biggest benefit Saskatchewan has over other provinces according to Casey is the coaches.

“They lead us to our success, they have what they call the Saskatchewan advantage, where they emphasize doing the little things correct and embracing adversity and respecting everyone, being a team and not an individual.

Heading into the fall, Casey will be entering into his Grade 11 season with the St. Joseph’s Guardians of Saskatoon, he said his goal for the upcoming year is to help his team with a provincial championship.
