Machete-wielding youth arrested at Canada Day fireworks celebrations

Canada Day Fireworks at Wascana Park involved a youth with a machete.
Police found the youth after the police safety unit heard calls about a possible fight.
Police approached the male to get him to drop the machete and the youth fled on foot, waving the machete as he fled police.
A CEW, or taser, was deployed and took the youth down and into custody without further incident.
The 14-year-old youth, who can’t be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace, and carrying a concealed weapon.
He’ll make his first court appearance August 17th.
