The Saskatchewan Health Authority is ending its outbreak declaration at the Prince Albert Victoria Hospital, made after an inpatient tested positive for COVID-19 April 30.
Dr. Khami Chokani, Medical Health Officer, has declared the outbreak over after not a single case was discovered either in patients or HCW related to the 10-day exposure period. Dr. Chokani says, “this is a definite testimony to diligent PPE use and good environmental maintenance by all the teams.”
The outbreak was declared at the hospital because of the duration of stay in the hospital a COVID-19 positive patient without knowledge of the patient’s condition. Staff who had been in close contact with the patient began self-isolating and were tested. Contact tracing and investigation was began immediately.
