2020 was a great year for Rams and Huskies in the CFL Draft. 2021 was almost as good.

In all, CFL teams chose five Rams and Huskies (plus one former Ram) in the 2021 Draft.

Rams teammates went to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the middle of the draft, five picks apart. There was linebacker Robbie Lowes in the 4th round (34th overall) and running back Kyle Borsa in the 5th round (39th overall). In an interview last week Borsa compared his CFL potential to Bombers receiver Nic Demski. Now Borsa will join Demski in the Bombers offense.

A former Ram went with the final pick of the 1st round. The Ticats selected linebacker Nick Cross 9th overall.

Cross played high school football at LeBoldus before becoming a starter for the Rams in his first season. His success continued after transferring to UBC where he was a 1st-team All Canadian in 2019.

The Huskies saw three players chosen, led by defensive back Nelson Lokombo.

The 2019 President’s Trophy winner went to the Riders at #2 overall. Lokombo rose steadily throughout his USports career–from Huskies Rookie of the Year in 2017, to the top defensive player in USports in 2019, to the second pick in the draft.

The Ottawa Redblacks joined the Saskatchewan love-fest selecting offensive lineman Connor Berglof in the 3rd round (24th overall).

And Huskies defensive back Josh Hagerty rounded out a great night going in the 6th round (47th overall) to the Argos.

Since the 2019 CFL season ended, 12 Rams and Huskies have been selected in the CFL draft.
