Regina man tasered four times during Friday morning arrest

On Friday morning, at around 11:40 am, Regina Police responded to a call of mischief at Lorne Street and 11th Avenue.

Police were notified that a man was smashing windows with a long piece of rebar, when police arrived, they found the man swinging the rebar.

Police then exited the vehicle and demanded the man drop the rebar, and he complied. He then picked it up again and swing it at police.

RPS officers used a taser on the man, but it was ineffective. The man dropped the rebar and entered the police vehicle and attempted to put it in gear.

A taser was once again deployed, this time with limited effectiveness. A struggle between the man and police ensued, where the man was pulled out of the vehicle.

Police tasered the man a third time and were able to put handcuffs on him. EMS was called to examine the suspect, who sustained minor injuries.

A 31-year-old man has been charged with 14 counts of mischief, attempted theft of a motor vehicle, and assault of a peace officer with a weapon.
