Murray Golf Course ‘busier than usual’ ahead of opening weekend

It will have a different look to it this year, but golf season officially begins Friday with tee times being booked at courses around Regina.

Course Pro Gus Vogelsang said tee times are already pretty full for the first two days of the season.

“Friday is booked solid for tee times (from) 7:00 AM to almost 6:00PM, and then Saturday is looking the same way,” Vogelsang said. “It’s very clear that people are anxious to get out on the golf course.”

Vogelsang said bookings have been busier than other years.

“Like anything, I think people are just anxious because we are starting late, and I guess maybe it’ll taper off I imagine,” Vogelsang said. “There’s a really good forecast for this weekend, so it’s probably busier than what you would normally see in years past.”

While some courses are not allowing 18-hole game play, Vogelsang says the Murray will allow it this year.

“All of the holes are open, and once our golfers can get checked in and out on to the first tee, it’s going to be a pretty normal look for them out there.”

Vogelsang says the driving range will also be open starting Friday with social distancing restrictions in place.
