Elimimian says CFLPA and CFL need to work together on $150 million request

The head of the CFL Players Association says it is time to put egos aside and start working together to make sure the league continues.

Many of the players are not happy with the fact that there was no consultation between the PA and the league before Commissioner Randy Ambrosie went to Ottawa asking for $150 million dollars.

Solomon Elimimian says this is a case where both sides need to work together.

“Ultimately, we know we are stronger together than apart.” Elimimian told Michael Ball during an interview  on 620 CKRM’s Sportscage Tuesday.  “We just have to put our differences aside and find a way to figure things out.”

Elimimian says he has voiced his disapproval with Ambrosie for making his $150 million pitch alone saying the players needed to have their input and that discussions between the two sides have been going on as they try to strategize their next move together.  He says the league is something Canada needs.

“It’s not about the players or the coaches, its about the community.” Elimimian said. “It’s about the businesses in that community, it’s about the fans, it’s about game-day workers, team staff and others impacted by not having a CFL.”

Elimimian believes the voice of the players will be the strongest at the table because they’re relatable to the average person going through a lot of uncertainty right now.
