Young woman facing drug charges after Monday morning incident

A woman is facing several drug charges as a result of a police investigation into a suspicious vehicle.

On Monday morning, around 3:08 am, RPS officers on patrol saw a white GMC truck with three people in it, heading northbound on Broad St at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was later found abandoned in the area of Litzenberger Crescent.

An officer noticed two women walking in the area and arrested them as part of the investigation. At the same time, K-9 officers tracked from the vehicle to an alley on Kennedy Crescent, and located a third woman. She was arrested for dangerous operation of a vehicle and was searched for weapons.

In the search, police found baggies containing a substance believed to be illegal drugs. A search of the truck found cash and other items associated with drug trafficking.

The three women were interviewed; one was subsequently charged.

Eighteen-year-old Taryn Mackenzie George, from Grenfell, has been charged with the possession on meth for the purpose of trafficking, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, and the possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

George was released with a court date set for July 14th, 2020.
