Saskatoon’s Midtown Centre evacuated due to fire

Midtown Plaza in downtown Saskatoon was evacuated and closed early Monday evening after a fire in an electrical room.

The Saskatoon Fire Department was called out just before six o’clock.

Crews found a significant amount of smoke in the underground parkade.

It was determined that a large breaker had failed in the electrical room which caused arcing and all that smoke.

The incident is under investigation but is not suspicious. There is no damage estimate yet.
