Well, clocks all around us fell back an hour over the weekend. I hope you enjoyed that extra hour of sleep you got Saturday night!
The spring and fall always bring debates about the old switching of the clock. Some want it, some don’t.
Some of the arguments against switching the clock are inane. The dumbest argument against switching the clocks comes every spring when people insist that it’s dangerous to lose an hour of sleep when clocks are turned ahead. They say it throws your internal clock off. Really? That’s kind of stupid. How is it any different than someone who usually goes to bed at 10 o’clock staying up until midnight? That person just lost 2 hours of sleep. Is that person more prone to accidents the next day than those who push their clocks ahead by 1 hour? Plus, the change to push the clocks ahead only happens once a year!
It’s funny, but you never hear of anybody complaining when we turn the clocks back one hour. It really doesn’t matter to me. The only way I’m affected is that most of my TV favorite shows are on an hour later.
This is the second place that I’ve lived where the clocks stay the same. The same thing happened when I lived in Puerto Rico and I never heard anyone complain down there.
BC is now considering leaving the clocks the way they are year round. Hey, who’d have thought 20 years ago that Saskatchewan would become a trend setter?
