Sask. NDP demands legislature resume

The Saskatchewan NDP gathered outside the Legislature to demand that the government reconvene.

Sask. NDP Leader Ryan Meili says that the provincial government needs to be held accountable during the pandemic, adding without it, they have left vulnerable people behind.

“As the people of this province have faced the immediate impacts of COVID-19, Scott Moe’s government has been one of the least active in Canada, leaving many people behind” said Meili. “They’ve done less than the bare minimum for the most vulnerable. In the meanwhile, the Sask Party is writing themselves blank checks behind closed doors.”

Meili said that he has heard of so many people in Saskatchewan stepping up throughout the course of the pandemic, and it’s time for the province’s MLA’s to do the same thing.

“Saskatchewan people know that things are hard right now, they’re steeping up,” said Meili. “When we face tough times, we expect our leaders to step up as well, to do what’s hard. We’re here, we’re ready to do just that, we’re ready to get to work.”

Meili says he would like to see a plan that responds to the deep economic challenges ahead, without deep cuts and privatization.
