Sask. cattlemen worried about cattle shipments to the U.S.

Saskatchewan Stock Growers are worried about a threat to cattle exports to the U.S.

This week U.S. president Donald Trump suggested help for U.S. ranchers by limiting cattle imports.

Saskatchewan Stock Growers manager Chad MacPherson says the North American cattle industry is fully integrated and a limit to shipments to the U.S. would be very harmful.

He says “It would be devastating for producers and hurt their pocketbook.”

MacPherson believes Trump’s comments were mainly targeted at offshore beef imports because the new North American trade deal allows cross-border sales.
