Farm equipment sales have been strong in Canada following a good year for crop production and prices in 2020.
The Coronavirus helped to boost worldwide demand for grain.
The CEO of the Western Equipment Dealers Association, John Schmeiser, says the supply chain remains under pressure to meet farm equipment demand.
“We have close to 60 percent of our dealers reporting that they have ordered more equipment for 2021. with 21 percent of dealers increasing orders by more than 10 percent,” said Schmeiser. “These numbers are the highest that we have seen in the past 5 years, and very much so another healthy indicator for the industry.”
Schmeiser says total tractor sales in Canada rose 81 percent between March 2020 and March 2021.
He says these numbers are huge and are expected to continue strong for the remainder of the year.
