National Lacrosse League cancels remainder of season

The National Lacrosse League will not be declaring a champ this season.

The league had been hoping to resume operations after COVID-19 shut it down in mid-March, but on Thursday it was decided to shift operations towards the 2020-21 season and call an end to this year.

After an exhaustive effort weighing all of the factors, including the health and safety of our players and staff, immigration challenges, and the resources required to execute a post-season tournament under the current circumstances, our senior leadership and Board have agreed to redirect our attention to planning for next season,” NLL commissioner Nick Sakiewicz said in a statement.

At the time the season was called off, the Saskatchewan Rush led their division with a record of 7-3.
