Robbie Holmes picked up his first junior hat trick and Max Paddock collected his third career shutout as the Regina Pats blanked the Broncos 6-0 Friday night in Swift Current.
It was a dominant road win for the Pats who pumped the Broncos with 55 shots to Swift Current’s 25. Special teams were on point for the Pats as they finished the night three for five on the power play and a perfect five for five on the penalty kill.
Nikita Sedov, Riley Krane and Zack Smith also scored for Regina in the win.
Pats head coach Dave Struch felt it was a great performance top to bottom from his lineup. He said the team has been resilient in difficult games this season, which he thinks isn’t reflected properly in the team’s record.
“It’s been hard on them and they deserved it tonight,” Struch told listeners in his post-game interview on Friday.
“We’ve played 99 per cent of every game for a long time now and the extra one per cent, stopping in the paint and grinding it out, was really fun to watch.”
The Pats (4-14-2-0) go from Swift Current to Brandon, Manitoba when they face the Wheat Kings (11-13-1-0) on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. from Westoba Place.
