Two Regina men charged following collision, discovery of shotgun

A two-vehicle collision on Sunday night featuring a drunk driver and a firearm has resulted in multiple charges for two Regina men.

At 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, officers arrived at the 1300 block of Dewdney Avenue East where a white truck was involved in an accident with a a black SUV which was on its side.

While no one from the truck suffered injuries, the driver and three passengers of the SUV were taken to hospital for treatment.

During the investigation, police suspected that the driver of the SUV was impaired during the incident and determined that his vehicle hit the truck after disobeying a red light. The driver also had outstanding warrants.

Officers also found one of the passengers was in possession of a sawed-off shotgun.

27-year-old Faysal Abdulkadii Moumin has been charged with possession of a weapon for a purpose dangerous to public peace, carrying a concealed weapon, unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon, unauthorized possession of firearm in a motor vehicle, tampering with a serial number of a firearm and careless use of a firearm.

29-year-old Mursal Abukar HAGI has been charged with three counts of impaired operation of a conveyance causing bodily harm and refusal to comply with (blood) demand.
The suspects appeared in court on Monday morning.
