Crop specialists welcome weekend rain but say more is needed

Crop specialists say weekend rain is welcome in Saskatchewan but more will be needed soon.

The weather office says rainfall varied from 6 millimetres in Regina and Moose Jaw to 48 millimetres in Saskatoon.

Provincial crop extension specialist, Sara Tetland, says strong winds have dried out topsoil moisture and the rain will help replenish the soil.

She says “Yeah, I think we would still like some rain down here in the Moose Jaw, Regina area”

“We’re hoping for some more rain in this region”

Rainfall amounts ranged from 10 to 15 millimetres in Yorkton, Estevan and Swift Current while Rosetown had 41 millimetres.
