After opening up the season on the road with a win against the University of Manitoba Bisons last Friday, a pair of University of Regina Ram football players were recognized with the weekly award winners by Canada West Football.
Defensive End Anthony Bennett received the honour for defensive player of the week. In the Rams win, Bennett collected three sacks along with five solo tackles to lead the green and gold defence.

The special teams player of the week went to Ryder Varga of the Rams. Varga blocked a punt that resulted in a touchdown for the Regina during the victory against the Bisons. The linebacker also picked up an interception late in the game to seal the victory for the Rams.

The offensive player of the week went to University of Saskatchewan Quarterback Mason Nyhus.
On Friday, the University of Regina Rams will hold their 2022 home opener against the University of Calgary Dinos.
