Regina police charge two prisoners for threatening witnesses in Mintuck homicide case

Two Regina men are facing charges after allegedly intimidating witnesses and making death threats to witnesses connected to the Thurston Mintuck homicide case.

Mintuck is Regina’s ninth murder victim from 2017 when he was found with injuries early on the morning of December 3, 2017 on the 1200 block of Retallack Street. He eventually passed away in hospital.

27-year-old Nayo Fox and 30-year-old Timothy Louison, were both charged with first-degree murder among other charges.

The Regina Police Service (RPS) shared on Wednesday morning they became aware of two prisoners in custody at the Regina Provincial Correctional Centre who were allegedly disguising their phone system conversations at the facility between December 2019 and April 2020.

Regina Police say this was to threaten and intimidate witnesses for an upcoming trial. The threats were apparently made against witnesses and their families in order to “manipulate their court testimony.”

Police say the inmates, Louison and Fox, were given court-ordered conditions that prohibits them from having any contact with witnesses.

An investigation determined Fox and Louison have been charged with intimidation of a justice participant. They both appeared in provincial court on June 5.

RPS is also requesting anyone with information from these events to direct them to their major crimes unit.
