It’s day four at Canadian Western Agribition and if the first three days are any indication, it’ll be another busy one down at Evraz Place. At times it’s not easy having a conversation over the constant din. The sound of kids laughing and having fun is in constant competition with exhibitors trying to pull passerby over to their booths to hawk their wares. Even after you leave the building that sound stays with you.

During my week at Agribition I spend quite a bit of time just walking around checking things out. There is every kind of exhibit you could imagine.

There is one exhibit that has been here for a few years selling boot and shoe wax. All day long they pull people in and shine their boots or shoes, extolling the virtues of their fine product. I don’t think I could sit around polishing shoes 8 hours a day for 6 straight days. I’d probably go nuts! Every time I walk by they always try to get me to sit down so they can polish my shoes for me. How many times do I have to tell them no thanks? When my shoes get dusty, I just grab a damp paper towel and voila, the shoes are clean.

Maybe if I spent more than $30 for a pair of shoes I might be up for a polish, but somehow I just don’t feel that my shoes deserve that kind of service!

Now, if they were selling a can of wax that doubled as something edible that I could spread over a piece of toast, that would be something I might be interested in.

There is so much to see and do at Agribition. If you’ve never been there before, you really should make it a point to drop by, especially if you have dirty shoes. I know exactly where to go to rectify that situation!
