Saskatoon teenager charged in alleged threat to shoot up Holy Cross High School

A charge has been laid against a 16-year-old boy suspected of making an online threat against Holy Cross High School which allegedly included a map of the school, the date of the planned attack and a number of those who would be killed.

Staff Sergeant Grant Obst says police became aware of it at about 11 o’clock Tuesday night and the boy was arrested 3 1/2 hours later.
.
Officers found replica weapons in the search of the boy’s home but Obst says there was nothing that could have carried out the threat contained in the detailed diagram of shooting up the place on December 17th.

Obst points out sharing of the threat by others on other and more high profile social media platforms raised anxiety levels in parents and school officials and feels the posters should have notified police first.

After speaking with the boy, investigators don’t believe he planned to follow through and Obst says if it was a joke, it was misplaced and misguided.

He also says anyone who thinks it was funny should give their head a shake.

The boy appears in court in early January.

Investigators are confident he acted alone.
