Two men arrested on weapon offenses

Two men are facing weapons charges, including possession of explosives.

Both 26-year-old Danton Bitternose and 20-year-old Ethan Fiddler were arrested and charged after an incident at a Regina business on Monday.

At 7:50 a.m., police were dispatched to a building on the 2100 block of Broad Street as one man was trying to steal items from a business and was told to leave the premises.

At that point, it’s alleged he showed a knife and then left, joining the second man in the alley.

When police arrived and detained the two individuals, Bitternose was wanted on warrants and was also on several conditions. When searched, police found a small hatchet, knife and two improvised incendiary devices. Fiddler also had conditions prohibiting him from possessing firearms or ammunition. He was found with knives and ammunition.

Bitternose of the Lestock district is charged with:

  • Breach of release order
  • Possession of break-in instruments
  • Unlawful possession of explosives
  • Possession of explosive substance contrary to prohibition order

Fiddler of Regina is charged with:

  • Carry concealed weapons, s. 90 CC; and
  • 2x Possession of ammunition contrary to prohibition order, s. 117.01(1) CC.

Bitternose made his first court appearance in Provincial Court on Tuesday, and Fiddler has been released on an undertaking and is set to appear in Provincial Court on November 7.
