Seeding at 99 percent in latest Sask crop report

The latest crop report from Saskatchewan Agriculture says seeding is virtually complete in the province at 99 percent now planted.
Rain was received in most areas and was welcome, but more is needed in some regions.
The southern and central regions would welcome more moisture.
However, there were also reports of localized flooding in areas like Humboldt, which received the highest amount of rain this week at 71 millimeters.
Topsoil moisture is rated 2 percent surplus, 70 percent adequate, 25 percent short and three percent very short.
Across the province, 70 percent of cereal crops, 63 percent of oilseeds and 80 percent of pulses are at normal development for this time of year.
The majority of crops are rated fair to good.
Lack of moisture, wind and reduced germination of canola has resulted in spotty emergency in a few fields.
The majority of crop damage this week was due to strong winds, cutworms and flea beetles.
Dry soil conditions also caused some crop damage as well as frost and hail.
Reseeding from dry conditions and insect damage, specifically in canola fields, has been reported and some farmers are seeding green feed.
