A rumour that has spread around social media of a student in apparent possession of a firearm has been deemed unfounded.
The Regina Police Service says on Thursday at about noon, the School Resource Officer for Miller Comprehensive Catholic School started investigating a rumour of a picture of what appeared to be a firearm on a student’s phone.
There was concern this image may be a threat to other students.
Police say the concern has been unfounded and there is no threat associated with the picture.
The investigation involved the school’s Vice-Principal, some students and parents.
Officers say the image on the phone was a photo taken of an internet image and the student does not have access to any firearms.
RPS adds there is no threat to the school, staff or public.
Miller Comprehensive will be sending an email to the school’s families.
