Canfax reports 11,600 head of cattle were sold in Saskatchewan last week—a big increase over the 3,564 head the previous week. Despite this, year-to-date marketings are still 17 percent below 2021. Feeder steer prices ranged from $3.93 per hundredweight lower to $2.25 per hundredweight higher.
The biggest increase was for 500-to-600-pound steers–while 4-to-5 weights recorded the largest decline.
Only half of the feeder heifer price categories were reporting—with all being between $1.67 to $3.24 per hundredweight lower.
Prices of live non-fed cattle in Alberta were lower. D2 slaughter cows were down $2.05 to average $104.25—-while D3 slaughter cows declined $3.52 to average $90.36 per hundredweight. (with files from cjww)
