Extreme cold warning for portions of Sask.

Environment Canada has issued an extreme cold warning for parts of northern Saskatchewan, as well as central and eastern parts of the province.

The weather agency says an Arctic ridge of high pressure will settle over the central prairies Monday night, dropping temperatures to near minus 30 C by Tuesday morning.

These temperatures in combination with westerly winds of 10 to 15 km/hr will create wind chill values of minus 40 or lower.

It adds that wind chill values will moderate slightly on Tuesday however similar wind chill values are likely again Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.
