Canada, the U-S and Mexico have signed a revised North American free trade deal in Mexico City.
The chair of the Western Canadian Wheat Growers Association, Jim Wickett, says the trade deal is important to ensure stability for marketing Saskatchewan farm products.
Wickett says the U.S. exports about 50 thousand tons of grain to Canada, but purchases 5 million tons from Canada.
Mexico is also considered a significant market for Canadian meat and grain products.
The three countries originally signed the deal to replace NAFTA last year, but congressional Democrats and organized labour held up U-S ratification of it as they dealt with Mexico over labour rights and provisions on steel and aluminium.
