The best quarterback in the history of the University of Regina Rams is coming back to the team.
On Wednesday, the Rams announced Noah Picton would be coming back to the organization to serve as the team’s quarterbacks coach.
Picton was one of the most prolific quarterbacks in Canadian university football history over his time with the Rams, including winning the Hec Crighton Trophy in 2016 as the national player of the year. He’s the all-time U SPORTS leader with 11,494 passing yards, the Canada West all-time leader with 1235 completions, and ranks second in Canada West and school history with 71 touchdown passes.
In a release, head coach Steve Bryce says “He set such a great example as a player and a leader during his time with the Rams, and he’s the perfect guy for our group of young, talented quarterbacks to learn from.”
In his first year of eligibility, Josh Donnelly did not disappoint as Picton’s replacement as he threw for 1965 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Noah wasn’t the only Picton to get good news Wednesday. The Riders announced receiver Mitch Picton, who also played for the Rams, had been re-signed. Picton was a draft pick of the green-and-white in the 5th round of the 2017 draft.
