Riders acknowledging Truth and Reconciliation Day with orange shirts

The Saskatchewan Roughriders and Winnipeg Blue Bombers rarely agree on much, but both teams will spend some time Friday acknowledging National Truth and Reconciliation Day.

The teams will be at Winnipeg’s IG Field Friday evening for their game, and before the game the teams will wear orange shirts for a special pregame event.

Sideline staff will also wear special orange shirts in support of the cause as well.

“As we reflect on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we hope that these jerseys will serve as a small symbol of our commitment to reconciliation and the work we’ve done and will continue to do moving forward as allies of the Indigenous community,” said Saskatchewan Roughriders President and CEO Craig Reynolds in a media release.

The Riders will raffle off their shirts for programs funding Indigenous sports programs in the province and special events in Indigenous communities.
